Kindergarten Program!

Congrats to all Kindergarten students on a WONDERFUL program this morning! Based on the book Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman, our story included birds, dogs, cats, a cow, and a SNORT! (You had to be there.) :-)

As always, I forgot to mention some important things while speaking at the program. Fortunately, the music room blog is a perfect opportunity to share them with you!

First of all, I would like to thank Senora Meli for "constructing" the Snort excavator for us. Out of kindness and great generosity, she took many hours out of her busy schedule to build the Snort. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! Secondly, I would like to thank Mrs. Crady and Mr. Crady for printing off, coloring, cutting out, and hanging our Starbucks sign. It was a hoot! Thanks also to Starbucks for letting us borrow an apron! :-) Thank you to Mrs. Dillingham for constructing our birds' nests. They were very authentic looking, and hightened the atmosphere of our fall scenery! All of the Kindergarten teachers pitched in to make our program a success. I couldn't have done it without them!

Of course, I cannot have a program without the wonderful Mr. Morton. He works so hard to prepare our performance space by setting up risers, microphones, and chairs. He also helps me with decorations on the stage wall, which is not an easy task! Mr. Morton also sets our sound and lighting before the show so everyone can be seen and heard. And he does it with a smile and a love for the kids! Thanks, Mr. Morton!!!

In the printed program, you may have noticed that each song had a specific standard attached to it. I included this information so that you would know that, while we ARE performing and having fun, we are ALSO demonstrating music skills outlined in the curriculum. Performances are such a fun way to incorporate these! Take a closer look, if you still have your program, and marvel at how many skills your Kindergartener has already practiced...and it's not even October!

I hope you all enjoyed the show as much as WE enjoyed preparing it for you. Kindergarten parents, we will see you again on December 14th at 9:00 for our Christmas program!

(whew!) :-)
